  • Grudge Match Games Week 13

Modest Mice (3-10) @ Pismo Penetrator's (9-4)

This series began with a .18 point victory for Pismo Penetrator's last year and it must have signaled what would develope in the future. The Penetrator's have won 3 out of 3 and look to make it 4 out of 4 if they have their way this week. The Mice will come to do battle. They have lost three but none can be considered blowouts. The other two games were won by 13 and 14 points. In the division, the Mice have lost 2 games to the Panthers, 2 to Darth Raiders, and 1 to the Penetrator's. A win by the Modest Mice this week would stop a three-sweep by their division rivals. Meanwhile, Pismo Penetrator's have defeated Darth Raiders 2 times, lost to the Panthers 2 times, and beat the Mice once, giving them a division record of 3-2. Modest Mice are headed to the consolation playoff, while Pismo Penetrator's try to win a second championship in the Fanatic Bowl.

Panthers (9-4) @ Darth Raiders (5-8)

The Panthers enter this game knowing they will be one of the six teams playing for the championship this year. Darth Raiders will be among the consolation playoff teams. The Panthers defeated the Raiders in both games during the 2008 season, but Darth Raiders surprised the Panthers in front of the Panthers home crowd during week one this year. Other games within the division saw the Panthers defeat the defending league champs 2 times and the Modest Mice 2 times. Darth Raiders have 2 wins versus the Mice, 2 losses to the Penetrator's, and the one win over the Panthers. How many points do they score? The Panthers have scored a total of 361.40 points in three games, giving them a 120.46 per game average, while Darth Raiders have scored a total of 373.92 points for an average of 124.64 per game. The Panthers are finding it harder and harder to score points against the Raiders. Their point output has gone from 141.68 in the first game, to 110.10 in the second, and 109.62 in week one of 09.

DARKHORSE (7-6) @ The Dark Knight (4-9)

DARKHORSE is one of seven teams remaining in the hunt for a championship this year. The Dark Knight will play in the consolation playoff. So far in three games between these two teams, the road team has come out on top in every game. Surprisingly the team with the highest point average per game (141.19), (The Dark Knight), has won only one of the three games. DARKHORSE scores 129.88 per game versus the Knights. Neither team has a win streak, but DARKHORSE could be the first with a two game streak if they dump the Dark Knights this week. DARKHORSE is aware their division rival, BLUEMOON, is only one game behind them with a 6-7 record. A win will make all the worry go away for DARKHORSE. A loss could really make things interesting with BLUEMOON and CALIENTE playing each other this week.

BLUEMOON (6-7) @ CALIENTE (7-6)

If BLUEMOON ever wanted a win, this week is the one. They didn't know so much would be riding on the last game when this season started. If the MOONS win versus CALIENTE, and DARKHORSE loses, then the three teams will finish 7-7, requiring tie-breakers to be used to decide seeding. Nothing like a 100 yard dash to the finish. BLUEMOON has a 2-1 record versus CALIENTE. CALIENTE won the first meeting between the teams, but BLUEMOON has a 2 game win streak going. BLUEMOON has scored 381.98 points in three games, giving them a 127.33 point per game average against CALIENTE. On the Other hand, CALIENTE has scored 384.42 total points against BLUEMOON in three games, for a 128.14 average per game. BLUEMOON, you're the visiting team, you will call the flip. Heads or tails?

Fabulous Thunderbirds (5-8) @ MANIACS (9-4)

The Thunderbirds just want to beat the MANIACS once to get the ball rolling. The MANIACS have won 3 out of 3 so far. I doubt they'll be in a giving mood this week either, since they're battling for seeding positions in the 2009 Fanatic Bowl playoff. Let's see how each team has done against their division rivals in 09. The only team to get swept by the MANIACS was Sledge Hammers. They split games with the WAHOOS and won the first game versus the Thunderbirds by 18 points. The Thunderbirds lost 2 games to the WAHOOS and won both games versus the Sledge Hammers. They lost the first game to the MANIACS but have a chance to even things up this week with a win.

Sledge Hammers (4-9) @ WAHOOS (10-3)

Somewhere during this 2009 season the wheels fell off the Sledge Hammers. Last years division champs face last years runner-up, the WAHOOS. The Hammers know they will be playing in the consolation playoff this year, while it looks like the WAHOOS will be the #1 seed with a first round bye. In the three game series between the two teams, Sledge Hammer has a 2 to 1 lead. All three games have been won by the home team. Hummmmmm....... I guess that means the WAHOOS might even the series at 2-2 this week? Both teams have been evenly match in the first three games. The Hammers have scored 397.72 points for a 132.57 point per game average, while the WAHOOS have scored 391.38 points for 130.46 points per game. In the division, the WAHOOS defeated the Fabulous Thunderbirds two times, split two games with the MANIACS, and lost the first game versus the Sledge Hammers. On the other side of the field, the Sledge Hammers lost 2 games against the MANIACS and 2 versus the Fabulous Thunderbirds. A win this week would give them a sweep over the WAHOOS.
