Which Wide Receiver Is Best For Your Dynasty Fantasy Football Team

WR DEZ BRYANT DAL vs. WR KENNY BRITT TEN

Hello Fantasy Football Fanatics!

Today I’m taking a look at a couple of young wide receivers and I’m trying to determine which will be the best dynasty fantasy football wide receiver.

Dez Bryant was a rookie in 2010 while Kenny Britt was playing his second year of professional football.  Physically, if you look at one of these players you’re seeing a mirror image of the other.  Kenny is 6’3” and weighs 215 lbs while Dez is 6’2” and 217 lbs.  Both are only 22 years old.

Each player had similar stats during their rookie season in the NFL.  In 2009, the rookie Kenny Britt was targeted 75 times, caught 42 for 701 yards, and scored 3 touchdowns.  Those stats produced 130.70 fantasy football points.  Dez Bryant’s 2010 rookie season saw him targeted 72 times, he hauled in 45 for 561 yards, and rang up 6 touchdowns.  Bryant played in 12 games before he was placed on injured reserve.  His play netted his fantasy owners 143.80 points, only 13.10 points better than Kenny Britt’s rookie performance in 2009.

Britt’s 2nd season saw him produce more fantasy points while playing in only 9 games.  He was out with injuries during weeks 1 and 8, and again in weeks 10-13.  As if injuries weren’t enough of a problem, he played on a team with major quarterback problems.  During the 9 weeks that Kenny played, QB Vince Young played only 4 complete games, backup QB Kerry Collins played 4 complete games, and both Young and Collins shared quarterback duties in the other game.  Additionally in 2010, during games that Britt did not play in, Young and Collins split QB duties in four games while Collins and Rusty Smith shared signal calling duties in two games.  In all of that chaos, Kenny Britt still managed to finish 35th among all fantasy wide receivers and scored 167.00 fantasy points!

Dez Bryant has a much better quarterback situation in Big-D.  Tony Romo went down with a season ending shoulder injury last year but John Kitna was a very capable backup.  Bryant’s performance was gaining speed from week one while Romo was under center.  He continued to raise his fantasy point production in the weeks after John Kitna took over as quarterback.

Choosing between these two fine players is a tough task.  Dallas has the better quarterback tandem and they throw the ball more than the Titans. The main obstacle for Bryant is the number of wide receivers and tight ends used by Dallas in the passing game.

When all is said and done, I prefer to have Kenny Britt on my dynasty team for the long run.  New Titans head coach, Mike Munchak, has his work cut out for him as he tries to find his starting quarterback.  There should be some interesting QB candidates available after a new contract is reached between the owners and players.  Some intriguing quarterbacks who would be better than any of the current Titan QB’s are, Matt Hasselbeck SEA, Carson Palmer CIN, and Alex Smith 49ers.  Any of those quarterbacks could bring some stability to the position.  Seeing that Mike Munchak is in the first year of his contract, the team might allow him to pursue the QB of his choice.  I think Kenny Britt will see more targets over his career and with more targets he’ll have a greater opportunity to score more fantasy football points than Dez Bryant.
