TIMER WHEN TRADING DRAFT PICKS DURING E-MAIL DRAFT

It was brought to my attention that I should explain what happens when you make a trade for another team's draft pick. When you trade for a "draft pick", you inherit everything concerning that draft pick. That means, if there is only one hour left on the clock, you will inherit one hour to make the pick (not a new 12 hours). If there are 10 minutes left on the clock, you inherit the final 10 minutes. If you don't make your pick within that window of time, you will be timed out and the draft will proceed to the next pick in order. You will then need to submit a replacement pick, via e-mail, to jim@ffftd.com or phone 702.382.3135. If your choice for the replacement is available, he will be placed on your roster. Time is of the essence.

CONCERNING THE DRAFT CLOCK

Each team will have up to 12 hours to make a selection commencing with the team with the 1.01 draft pick. After his/her selection is made, the clock will jump to the next team in order. That team will then have up to 12 hours to make a pick. During the 12 hour period owners may negotiate trades, drop players, or make their draft pick.  The clock will be turned off between Midnight ET and 9:00 AM ET.  Turning the clock off does not keep you from making a draft pick.  If it’s your turn and you’re ready to make a selection you may do so, even with the clock turned off.  You can track your league draft progress by using the drop-down menu “Reports” >> “League” >> “Draft”.  You will also be updated via e-mail as each owner makes a pick.  Make sure you have Draft Status Update checked so you receive the updates.  Here’s how to specify what information you want sent to you via e-mail.  From the drop-down menu “For Owners” >> “Franchise Setup” >> click the “Contact Info” link.  Next place a check-mark in the boxes for information you want to receive via e-mail during the draft and throughout the year.

Your home page can be changed so you can see the draft clock count down, who’s on deck, and selections made.  Follow this path:  “For Owners” >> Franchise Setup >> Home Page.  Next, select items from the box on the left to be added to the list of items on the right.  You may also select items on the right to be removed to the left.  Use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to position the items the way you want them to appear on your home page.  Be sure to click the SAVE HOME PAGE SETUP before you leave the setup page.

MAKING THE FIRST PICK 1.01

If the franchise that has the first pick is unable to make or be involved in the draft it will be necessary for you to pre-draft the first pick so the draft can begin. That pre-draft pick will then be selected as soon as the Draft Start Date/Time has been reached.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PRE-DRAFT PICK AND THE MY DRAFT LIST?

Pre-draft picks are made on a pick-by-pick basis and always get executed as soon as the franchise is on the clock. These are generally designed to make a pick or picks for an absent owner that is unable to attend the draft. The My Draft List feature, however, is a customized master draft list designed for the entire draft as a whole. Any picks made using this list are, by default made once a franchises time has expired (although this can be changed to make the pick as soon as a franchise gets on the clock). This list is primarily used as a guide to aid an owner in actively making his or her picks.

MAKING YOUR SELECTION

You can make selections using the drop-down menu “For Owners” >> “Draft”.  If you’re having problems making a pick via your computer, you can e-mail your pick to jim@ffftd.com or call our office at 702.382.3135.  The commissioner will then post your pick for you.

MISSED PICK If the clock times out you will be skipped.  You can still put in a player request.  Either send an e-mail to jim@ffftd.com or call our office at 702.382.3135 Nevada with your pick.  If no one has selected the player you want to draft, we will add the requested player to your roster at the end of the round you timed out on. Time is of the essence.  If the next team in order drafts the player before we have a chance to pick him for you, you’ll have to submit a different player.  Again, “time is of the essence”.  Concerning the 2.12 draft position; if the owner of the pick makes a selection or times out, we will keep the window for replacement picks open for 24 more hours after the pick or the timed out, whichever comes first; to give those missing picks a chance to select someone as a replacement.  After the additional 24 hour window is closed, there will be no more picks allowed for the first two rounds.  This closes a loop-hole where someone misses a pick in the second round and waits until just before the third round starts, a month later, to send in a pick for the second round.  This same rule will apply equally to six draft picks.

NOT MAKING A PICK?

If you know you’re not going to make a draft pick, be considerate of the other owners in your league.  Send an e-mail to the commissioner jim@ffftd.com to let him know you want to skip the pick.  He will skip the pick and move the draft along.

SUMMING IT UP

Let’s have some fun with the draft.  Everyone has a chance to lay the foundation for a championship.  All fantasy sports players know that not all diamonds show up in the early draft rounds.  The early mining for gold nuggets many times turns up as much, or more, fool’s gold than real gold.  It’s the sharp eye of the fantasy football champion that sees the prize and maneuvers to capture it.

Feel free to ask us any question via e-mail or phone as the draft draws near.
